NRG’s job coaching program

First of all, hey! I was OOO last week, so it’s been a minute since I sent something out. But now that I'm back in action, I want to give you more information about NRG’s job coaching program, which launched in January 2021.

I decided to launch the program because during the last few months of 2020, I had multiple people ask me if I would coach them through the job hunting process. This got me thinking, and ultimately, I teamed up with a colleague to officially start helping candidates find their dream jobs. Last year, more than 100 people received one-on-one job coaching through NRG Consulting Group

Here are a couple samples of what people had to say about working with us:

  • "Before I started working with an NRG coach, I felt stuck. I was unhappy in my current job, and I knew I needed a change. My coach supported me technically and practically (resume, cover letter, email etiquette, timing), but also emotionally. She really helped me to trust myself."

  • "I came to work with an NRG coach after some frustration in my job hunt and not really knowing where to start in fixing it. After a very helpful and affirming initial conversation, we worked together to lay out a tailored plan to help me be more focused and successful in my career search… My coach was incredibly thoughtful in the whole process, offering specific feedback and tangible solutions. I found every minute we worked together valuable and helpful."

For 2022, I'm wicked excited to announce that Jacob Mnookin will be joining us as an NRG coach. He is the founder of a high-performing charter school network in Brooklyn, and has run countless talent searches. Everyone who knows Jacob loves working with him. He recently made the transition from school leadership to the ed-tech non-profit space, so he will be particularly helpful to those looking to switch sectors. He is also wicked familiar with the progressive world.

We know that the job search process can take longer than you want it to, and that it's really easy to get down on yourself. Sometimes, throwing money at the problem and bringing on a coach can be helpful. All of our services are ala carte, so you can pick what makes sense for you. Jacob is ready to help with the following:

  • Application materials. He’ll make sure your resume, LinkedIn, and cover letter tell a great story.

  • Mock interviews. We use a one-way video interviewing platform where you can deliver answers and get feedback.

  • Being your accountability person. It’s always helpful to have someone to hold you to your goals and help you think through what the right next move is.

If you are at all interested in getting support on your job search, sign up here for a 15-minute consultation with Jacob.

Speaking of jobs, here are the 90+ jobs we are looking to fill right now, and here are a few I want to highlight:

  1. Chief Operating Officer at United for Respect; $120,000-$130,000; Remote.

  2. Operation Director at American Promise; $120,000; Boston.

  3. National Digital Organizing Coordinator at New Movement to Redress Racial Segregation; $65,000-$85,000; Remote.
