3 tips for your job hunt

As a reader of the Get Hired newsletter, you likely know that NRG Consulting Group helps mission-driven organizations across the country find their perfect hire. But we also offer support to candidates on the job hunt.

In this newsletter, I typically offer a couple of quick tips on the job hunt and share three priority roles. This week I’m sharing all the searches that we launched in October.

While I have your attention, I wanted to highlight some tips I’ve mentioned in the past.

Tips for your job hunt:

1) Browse Job Boards. Spend time looking at job boards to know what’s out there. Here’s where I post. Then, make a plan of where to focus your attention. If there are sites where you look for jobs that aren’t on my list, let me know. I’m always looking to expand my list.

2) Connect with a Friend.  Talk to somebody about the job search. Right now, I am training for the Boston half-marathon. I know I am more likely to stick to a schedule when I train with a friend. Finding a job is a lot like training for a race, it helps to have a buddy. Find a friend who is also on the job hunt and set up check-ins every other week. Another option is to hire a coach. Just like hiring a trainer for accountability when working out, it may help you to hire someone to keep you accountable during your job search.

3) Apply. Sometimes people talk themselves out of applying; I know because I’ve spent time talking candidates into applying and I hear them say things like: “I saw that job but decided not to apply.” My advice is to apply for roles that  you find interesting. Make a decision about the job after you get the offer. Use this process as an opportunity to get more familiar with an organization and to develop your network. So many people in my network came from jobs I applied for.

Plus, we are featuring 17 new opportunities this week. Be sure to check out all of our searches. Twenty-five of those positions are remote

In addition to this list, we are hiring for 70+ roles. See more on the website

Thanks!

Naomi
