Anti-gun violence jobs and volunteer opportunities

I hope you had a peaceful, reflective and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Like everyone else, I can't stop thinking about Uvalde, Texas. The fact that the shooting took place in an elementary school made it hit close to home. We usually tune into NPR and read the newspaper to the girls every morning, but lately we've been avoiding current events and all media sources.

I wanted to dedicate this newsletter to advocacy jobs and volunteer opportunities in the anti-gun violence space. There’s been a lot of talk, for good reason, about which groups to give money to.  But in addition to that you can also give your time and talents.

I know the NRG list is made up of a bunch of progressive folks who want to make a difference, so here's how to do just that. (FWIW: Most anti-gun advocacy groups aren't looking for people with issue expertise, but rather the hard and soft skills they need to succeed.)

Here's a sample of some organizations and opportunities out there:

  • Everytown for Gun Safety is looking for digital campaigners, legal expertise, field organizers, researchers, and political activists.

  • Moms Demand Action has a number of ways that you can volunteer your time.

  • March for our Lives is holding rallies in D.C. and across the country on June 11. They also have a ton of additional volunteer opportunities.

NRG was proud to have helped Cease Fire PA expand their team recently,  and we are currently doing pro-bono work with Everytown for Gun Safety to help them find more organizers. Like everyone else, I just want to do what I can.

Now, onto housekeeping!
