Preparing For January
It has been a tough couple of weeks. I don’t know about you, but the election results have made me want to focus even more on what’s happening locally. I am finding ways to show up for my community and make real connections with the people closest to me.
I organized an event for parents at my kid’s school to come together and process the election results this past week. It was mainly a social event and it was great to meet new people and gather with others who are just as concerned about the future as I am.
Speaking of the future, I know a lot of people are rolling off of campaigns right now and looking for what’s next. There will be jobs available in the next couple of months (we are hiring for 20+ jobs right now) but I expect what’s available will expand in January.
If you want to stay in touch with us about those roles or you know someone who does, complete this form. I can’t promise that I’ll be able to meet with everyone, but we’ll find ways to keep you in the loop.
That means that now is the best time to prepare for your job search in 2025.
My friend and colleague, the NRG Career Coach Kristin Saybe, has a few tips. Watch it to learn her non-networking related tips (yes, networking is mentioned, but that’s not all). I think you’ll love what she has to say about how to figure out what jobs to apply for.
What other things are you doing to prepare for your job search in 2025? Also, how are you connecting with others–either locally or otherwise? I’d love to hear from you.
Speaking of connecting, we are talking about launching a NRG Talent Network networking cohort. For those of you who have been on the job search for a while, you know it's no fun. You often apply for jobs and never hear back, or you do a bunch of work in the hiring process and then don't get the offer. It's demoralizing. And it all happens at a time when you need to be confident and put your best self out there.
It helps to search in community and go through the process with others. We are flirting with the idea of launching networking cohorts. One version of this is group coaching for people with similar experiences. For example, we’ll pull together a bunch of Organizing Directors and Field Organizers looking to level up. Another idea is to match people up with 3-5 others in our network just to help you get in front of people that you might not otherwise.
If you are interested, complete the survey and let us know what you are looking for.
